40 Arrested In Chester County's 'Operation Silent Night' This Summer

COATESVILLE, PA -- A Chester County law enforcement initiative aimed at arresting drug dealers, murder suspects, firearms traffickers, and violent wanted felons netted a total of 40 arrests throughout the summer of 2017, the District Attorney's Office announced.

The operation involved enhanced police patrols, targeted arrests, coordinated prosecutions, rolling search warrants, and other methods. The operation was conducted as a joint project between the Coatesville Police Department, Chester County Detectives, and other area law enforcement agencies.

Authorities said the operation was designed to prevent and reduce crime, while also gathering intelligence about large criminal undertakings and organizations in the area.

"The teamwork approach to law enforcement proves most effective," Coatesville Police Chief Jack Laufer said. "By partnering with county, state, and federal law enforcement, and our county and federal prosecutors, we are able to identify, arrest, and prosecute those criminals who commit the violent crimes that are so disruptive to our communities."

Police said that often times the most dangerous criminals in the area are already known to law enforcement, but the resources to build a case and arrest them are unavailable, hence the value of Operation Silent Night.

Silent Night has been ongoing in Coatesville and the surrounding area since 2012.
