CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A baby overdosed on opioids and was nearly killed after his parents took the lethal drugs, passed out, and left them out inside the vehicle they were all in together, authorities said.

The parents of the 11-month-old boy, Charles Salzman Jr., 31, and Kristen Bristow, 30, have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and related counts.

The incident occurred Wednesday evening at around 6:45 p.m. outside the couple's house on Limestone Road in West Fallowfield Township.

A family member found the child not breathing and called police. The boy's life was saved when Pennsylvania State Troopers arrived on the scene and administered multiple doses of naloxone, the opioid-reversing drug, which revived him, state troopers said. He was then transported to AI Dupont Hospital for further treatment.

It's believed the drugs ingested were either fentanyl or heroin. Bags of the drugs were found in the vehicle and inside their home, police said.
