Bernie Sanders Campaign Didn't Fully Pay Upper Providence Township For April Rally: Study
The Bernie Sanders campaign didn't pay the full $25K which Upper Providence Township said they owed for security during an April event.
The Bernie Sanders campaign did not pay the full tab to Upper Providence Township for providing security during an April event, according to a new analysis released by the Center for Public Integrity (CPI). The report reveals that fellow Presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump also have significant tabs from events across the nation during the campaign season which they have refused to pay.
Sanders held a rally at the Oaks Expo Center in the height of the primary season on April 21.
According to Upper Providence police chief Mark Toomey, the Sanders campaign owes the township $25,260 for security provided during the event. The Sanders campaign reportedly told Toomey that the price was too exorbitant and that they did not ask for that amount of manpower.

“What if I said, ‘Look, you’re on your own, have fun,’ and a fight breaks out, or something terrible happens? I’m the one who gets skewered — the negatives are endless," Toomey told CPI.
CPI said that the Sanders campaign ultimately settled with the police department and paid $2,250 to Upper Providence.

The Sanders campaign, however, unlike the Clinton and Trump campaigns, has acknowledged that the money it owes to law enforcement agencies around the country in federal campaign filings. The filings of both the Trump and Clinton campaigns do not acknowledge that they owe any cities anything, although records show that Trump owes at least $204,000 and Clinton owes $25,000, the report states.
