Chesco Day Care Teacher Arrested For Child Porn: Cops

WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County man and teacher at a local Goddard School daycare faces child pornography charges, state police announced this week.

Tyler Smith, 25, was charged with both possessing and distributing child pornography, along with related counts.

Smith teaches and cares for children at the West Bradford Goddard School on 630 Sugars Bridge Road.

An investigation began when the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip in August.

The tip came from a report from Tumblr, a network of blogs and social media, which had found a user uploading child pornography, state police said.

Tumblr provided authorities with both the illegal images and logs which identified the suspect's IP address, according to police.

An investigation traced the upload of the images back to Smith's residence, authorities said. Police executed a search warrant at him home and discovered the images on his computer.

Smith was arraigned and bail was set at 10 percent of $50,000. He remains in Chester County Prison awaiting his preliminary hearing on Sept. 14.
