Chester Co. Gets $300K Grant For Affordable Housing

The state funding will help provide county residents with more affordable options, local officials said.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Chester County has received a $300,000 grant for affordable h0using projects from the state, local officials announced this week.

The money comes from the state's Department of Community and Economic Development’s Keystone Communities program and will directly fund the Chester County Department of Community Development.

“These funds will go a long way in supporting important programs that provide affordable and accessible housing options here in Chester County to some of our residents who need them the most,” State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D-Chester) said in a statement announcing the grant.

The funds will help 30 applicants across the county who are below 80 percent of median income, according to Dinniman.

All told, $5.5 million was given by the state to support 43 housing projects around Pennsylvania.

The Keystone Communities program works on various initiatives that aim to improve local communities, provide facade improvements to businesses, expand affordable housing options, and projects which aim to
"strengthen downtown districts."
