Drunk Man Tries To Drive, Fights Police In Phoenixville: Cops

Police said an intoxicated man tried to drive his girlfriend's car, hid from cops, and then fought them when they tried to arrest him.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A man was arrested in Phoenixville last week after attempting to drive drunk and then fighting police when they arrived, according to police.

The incident occurred at around 7:05 p.m. on Nov. 28 on the first block of Nutt Road.

Police said that a 22-year-old woman called authorities and said her boyfriend, aged 21, was drunk and trying to drive her car.

Before police arrived, the man ran out of the house and hid between houses on the 100 block of Newhall Street, according to authorities.

When Officer Heller found him, the suspect was "highly intoxicated," police said.

Heller tried to arrest the suspect but he fought back, and several officers arrived to assist in handcuffing him.

He faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and related counts.

Bail was set at $10,000. The suspect was unable to post bail and was remanded to Chester County Prison.

A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
