Indecent Assault At Owen J. Roberts Middle School Investigated

Pennsylvania State Police are looking into an alleged indecent assault between a 13-year-old student and a teacher at Owen J. Roberts.

SOUTH COVENTRY, PA — Pennsylvania State Police are looking into an alleged indecent assault between a 13-year-old student and a teacher at Owen J. Roberts.

The incident in question occurred on Jan. 23, according to authorities. The middle school teacher in question was not identified beyond the fact that he's a 29-year-old man from Norristown.

Susan T. Lloyd, Superintendent of Schools with Owen J. Roberts School District, said that they are fully cooperating with the investigation by State Police.

Lloyd said that the district was aware that the allegations had been made against the teacher. Details beyond that remain scarce, and no arrests have been made.

Lloyd said the district originally reported the incident a few weeks ago to State Police and Chester County Children and Youth Services. The district did not publish a statement until Wednesday, after State Police issued a public statement.

The teacher in question has been "removed from the workplace" as the investigation continues, the district said.

"Parents are asked to encourage their children to let a teacher, school counselor, or administrator know if a situation exists which could ever place them and others in danger," Lloyd said. "Only by working as a school community in partnership with parents can we create and maintain the level of safety that we want for our children and that they certainly deserve."

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
