Phoenixville Man Arrested For Not Paying $800 In Child Support: Sheriff's Office

He was one of seven parents arrested in overnight raids for not paying child support. The group owed $119,000 in total, officials said.

NORRISTOWN, PA – Seven "deadbeat" parents have been arrested during an overnight raid Tuesday into Wednesday for failing to pay child support, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The seven parents collectively owed $119,095.55 in child support for 14 children, authorities said.

Two suspects resisted arrest, but the rest were taken into custody without incident, according to the Sheriff's Office. The following individuals are in custody:

  • Walter Baltra of Egypt Rd., Phoenixville, Pa., owes $789.79 for one child.
  • Brian Bates of W. Oak St., Norristown, Pa., owes $4,348.41 for three children.
  • Anthony Carpenter of King St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $14,131.75 for three children.
  • Edward Craig of Horseshoe Dr., Royersford, Pa., owes $12,633.03 for one child.
  • William E. Jones, Jr., of W. Main St., Norristown, Pa., owes $44,754.85 for one child
  • James Marlin-Fazio, Jr., of Ridge Pk., Collegeville, Pa., owes $17,437.24 for four children.
  • Joseph Ziff of Walnut St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $25,000.48 for one child.
