The Phoenixville Borough Council has shot down a plan for the police department to purchase drones, according to a report in the Pottstown Mercury.
The council said the plan had potential but they wanted more oversight on the project before it moved forward, according to the report.
The drone would have been 4.4 pounds and used for search and rescue, accident reconstruction, and surveillance, the report states. It would not be weaponized.
