Phoenixville Teacher Honored As 'Heart Of Learning Finalist' By Brian Westbrook

Brian Westbrook spoke about tough life lessons with students, then presented the Heart of Learning award to a beloved math teacher.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- Wednesday was all about life lessons at Phoenixville Area High School, as former Philadelphia Eagles star Brian Westbrook took the auditorium stage for a special guest appearance.

But before he left, he presented a special award to another man who knows a thing or two about profound lessons.

Phoenixville mathematics teacher Seth McNaughton was recognized as a Citadel Heart of Learning finalist, and received the award from Westbrook himself.

Sponsored by Citadel Bank, the Heart of Learning award "recognizes excellence in the classroom by honoring those teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of their students."

One finalist was selected from each of the 13 public school districts within Chester County, in addition to one teacher from Chester County Intermediate Unit and one teacher from a non-public school in the county.

McNaughton will be recognized at a future banquet, and will receive a $500 award.

Westbrook, 37, played college football at Villanova and then began a All-Pro, eight-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a trip to the Super Bowl.
