BIRDSBORO, PA — A fatal accident has shut down a portion of 422 in Berks County on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Red Lane in Exeter Township, according to a report from WFMZ 69 News.

The incident involved a pickup truck and a car, the report states.

Authorities said that closure on Route 422 is in effect at Lincoln Road.

It's not yet clear when the road will be reopened, but police are reportedly shooting for 4:30 p.m.

Motorists heading eastbound into Montgomery and Chester counties should be aware of the closure, and plan for delays.

Westbound lanes are unaffected.
