Police said the goal of project is to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadway.
Authorities said that Memorial Day Weekend has seen an uptick in drunken driving incidents in the past several years.

The checkpoints and patrols will frequent areas that have been identified as places where unsafe driving and alcohol-caused crashes have occurred.
Some patrols will continue in those areas throughout the county once the weekend is over.

In addition to driving under the influence, enforcement will also include child restraint systems, unlicensed or suspended operator licenses, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle equipment and other traffic violations, police said. The Click it or Ticket seat-belt enforcement campaign is continuing simultaneously throughout the state through June 4.
