PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Burnt food led to smoke streaming out of an apartment on Sunday evening in Phoenixville, officials said.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. at the Carrie Court Apartments on Gay Street.

A witness called 911 to report smoke coming from the basement of the building, authorities said.

Crews arrived and began an investigation, which led them to the food.

Firefighters used positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke fumes from the building.
