Teens Sleep In Franklin Commons Overnight: Phoenixville Police Blotter

The kids entered Franklin Commons through an unlocked door and spent the night, police said.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Stolen motorcycles, cocaine busts, and teens sleeping inside of Franklin Commons: all that and more has been on the plate of the Phoenixville Police Department over the past few days.

The following is a summary of "notable" incidents which authorities in the borough responded to from Oct. 5 through Oct. 9.

On 10/05/2017 at 8:53PM, police responded to the unit block of E. Walnut Street for the report of a suspicious person sitting in a parked car. Officer Fusco located a 40 year old Phoenixville resident and determined that he had an active Berks County bench warrant. The man was arrested and taken directly to Berks County Prison.

On 10/06/2017 at 1:52AM, Officer Dobry was on bike patrol and encountered a man drinking a can of beer on Bank Street. The 40 year old Phoenixville man was issued a citation for the open container ordinance and emptied the beer.

On 10/06/2017 at 10:46PM, police were called to the 300 block of Franklin Avenue by a man whose wife was too intoxicated to walk home. Officers arrived and the 37 year old Phoenixville woman was lying on the ground. EMS transported her to Phoenixville Hospital for treatment.

On 10/07/2017 at 12:48AM, police responded to the Prima Motel & Lounge for a disturbance. The bartender reported that she told a patron to leave and the woman threw beer in the bartender’s face and threw the empty beer glass in her direction. Officers located the woman, a 57 year old Phoenixville resident, outside the bar and she was arrested for public drunkenness and released when she was sober.

On 10/07/2017 at 7:27AM, police were called to Franklin Commons for the report of 5 juveniles sleeping in a restroom inside the building. Officers located the kids who admitted that they entered through an unlocked door and spent the night inside the building. The juveniles were issued citations for trespassing and one of the juveniles was given an additional citation for criminal mischief for defacing the building with a permanent marker.

On 10/07/2017 at 6:06PM, Officer Lee observed a man stumbling as he walked in the 400 block of Bridge Street. The 40 year old Phoenixville man was intoxicated and was arrested for public drunkenness and released when he was sober.

STOLEN MOTORCYLE: A resident in the 700 block of W. Bridge Street reported that their black & white 2001 Suzuki Katana 750 PA registration #R3483 was stolen over the weekend.

On 10/07/2017 at 9:21PM, a Ford Ranger was towed from the Veteran’s Memorial (High) Bridge after a tire fell off the truck.

On 10/07/2017 at 10:24PM, Sgt. Gold observed several people sitting in a parked car outside the Prima Lounge. The officer investigated further and two of the passengers, a 67 year old man and a 57 year woman both of Chester Springs, had cocaine in their possession and they were arrested on drug charges.

FOUND DOG: On 10/08/2017, a resident in the 300 block of Third Avenue found a brown and white Shih Tzu with a green collar. The resident will keep the dog until the owner is identified.

On 10/08/2017 at 3:29PM, police responded to the Giant Food Store for the report of a woman panhandling. Officers located a 30 year old woman from Wilmington, Delaware and issued her a warning. The woman agreed to leave the shopping center.

On 10/08/2017 at 8:04PM, police received a report of an erratic driver in a silver Toyota Corolla. Officer Komorowski located the car on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge. The driver, a 36 year old Phoenixville resident, reported that he was tired from lack of sleep. The driver did not have a driver’s license so he was issued a citation and his car was towed from the scene.

On 10/08/2017 at 10:23PM, Officer Bryan stopped a car for a traffic violation on Nutt Road at Bridge Street. The officer smelled marijuana and a passenger, a 21 year old Royersford man, surrendered a bag of marijuana. The passenger was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
