Adams Area Fire District 5K Run/Walk

This annual event is a major fundraiser for the Adams Area Fire District (AAFD), serves as the kick-off to Adams Township Community Day and honors the memory of a dedicated community member and service leader - Mr. Herb Kaufman.

The Adams Area Fire District (AAFD) is 100% volunteer and provides fire suppression, medical "first response", vehicle and technical rescue, rural water movement, Truck Company, Engine Company, and operational hazardous material services to: Adams Township, Mars Borough, Valencia Borough and Seven Fields Borough. In addition, Mutual Aid is provided to the entire Southern Butler County and Northern Allegheny County area.

· Adams Township Community Park (698 Valencia Road, Mars, PA 16046)

· Competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers & families. Baby joggers are welcome

· No skates, bicycles or pets permitted

3.1 mile out-and-back course that starts and ends in Adams Twp. Community Park. Route consists of a few uphill/downhill grades and curves on scenic country roads.

• Start at Adams Twp. Community Park
• Right out of park onto Three Degree Rd.
• Left onto Davidson Rd. behind Mars Middle School football/baseball fields
• Continue onto Meredith Dr. towards Mars Centennial School
• Turn-around is approx. at Mars Centennial School entrance
• Follow route back to Adams Twp. Community Park
• Turn left into park and finish in baseball field parking lot

* Medals awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each age-group.

THE KAUFMAN CUP:

Fire departments compete as a team and race against other departments to stake claim to the Kaufman Cup! The winning team is presented a special trophy during the awards ceremony.

The Kaufman Cup helps build camaraderie between neighboring departments and brings fellow first-responders together in the spirit of firefighter wellness and team-building.

T-SHIRTS: Early registrants (before August 18) will receive a race t-shirt and runner’s goody bag; late registrants, while supplies last.

PACKET PICK-UP: Pick up your race number and goody-bag on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the Fire Station – 109 Irvine St. Mars, PA 16046, or at the registration tables at Adams Park on race day starting at 8:00 AM.

AWARDS, FOOD AND DOOR PRIZES WILL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW THE RACE IN THE PAVILION!
