Pine-Richland Schools Closed Tuesday

Snowstorm creates travel problems throughout area.

Pine-Richland schools are closed today as the area digs out from a snowstorm.

Last night’s commute was a nightmare for motorists as cars slipped and slid on local roads and some cars were abandoned on highways. Minor accidents and disabled vehicles were reported in the Pine-Richland area.

The speed limit was reduced on interstates, but that 45-mph speed limit reduction has been lifted this morning, according to PennDOT spokesman James B. Struzzi II.

Most Port Authority of Allegheny County bus service resumed this morning, although many routes are experiencing difficulty traveling on side roads and streets that have not yet been treated, according to spokesman Jim Ritchie.

The Monongahela Incline returned to service this morning after being shut down because of weather-related issues. The T light rail system is operating on a regular schedule.

The authority stopped much of its bus service at 10 p.m. on Monday night due to poor weather conditions.

Riders are being advised to check the status of their bus route by calling the Port Authority Customer Service line at (412)-442-2000 or by visiting their website.
