Whiz Kids: Technology Students Going to State Competition

More than a dozen student qualify for Pennsylvania State Technology Student Association Competition in Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

Pine-Richland Patch features a Whiz Kid or Kids to honor young people who wow us with their accomplishments. 

Names: Ashley Augustine, Nicholas Bello, Alex Cikovic, Matt Delvernois, Maura Franks, Chris Gillis, Jarrett Gustovich, Rishab Humar, Heath Lang, Greg Lawrence, Brian Martin, Kellen McGrath, Shane Raber, Brandt Ruszkiewicz, Ashley Schantz, Tim Skillen  and Bryan Tenfelde.

School: Pine-Richland High School

Accomplishment: These students qualified for the Pennsylvania State Technology Student Association Competition, which will be held April 13-15 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

Key to Awesomeness: The students qualified for the state competition by placing in various categories at the TSA Regional Conference held at California University of Pennsylvania.

Dragster Design Category -- Brian Martin placed third; Heath Lang, fourth; Ashley Augustine, ninth; and Maura Franks, 10th.

Manufacturing Prototype Category -- the PRHS team placed third. Winning team participants included Jarrett Gustovich, Greg Lawrence, Brandt Ruszkiewicz and Bryan Tenfelde.

Structural Engineering Category -- Kellen McGrath and Ashley Schantz earned 12th place as a team. 

Technology Problem Solving Category -- Nicholas Bello, Alex Cikovic and Rishab Humar teamed up to earn second place.

Transportation Modeling Category -- Brandt Ruszkiewicz earned third place and Brian Martin earned fourth place.

CAD Architectural 2D Category -- Nicholas Bello earned second place and Shane Raber and Tim Skillen both earned fourth place.  

CAD 3D Engineering Category -- Rusziewicz earned first place; Bryan Tenfelde, ninth; and Chris Gillis, 10th.

Safety Illustration Poster Category -- Matt Delvernois earned 12th place. 

The students participate under the direction of technology education teacher Evan Clark and the technology education department.
