Woodlands’ Chime Choir Holiday Concert Ringing Success

The annual concert featured glorious carols and festive tunes of the season.

 

Beautiful music and unity of spirit mark the holiday season—and both could be found at the Woodlands Holiday Concert Dec. 16 in Wexford.

The Woodlands Hand Chime Choir, whose ringers and singers are youths with disabilities, rang in the season alongside the Choir.

The Woodlands Chime Choir showcased instrumental performances with vocal solos and ensembles. Kelly Winovich, a long-time supporter of the Woodlands Chime Choir, directed the Northgate High School Choir. Some of the performances were translated through American Sign Language.

The evening was capped with Northgate’s rendition of “Joyful, Joyful” from the movie Sister Act 2. The Woodlands campers were so excited by the performance that the evening became a celebration of unity as the two musical groups bonded, gave each other high-fives, sang and danced together.

The concert was at the , a one-of-a-kind, year-round, state-of-the-art and fully accessible facility offering structured interactive and therapeutic recreational activities that enrich the lives of individuals with special needs and chronic illnesses.

Partnering with more than 20 different charitable organizations, the Woodlands annually serves more than 8,000 participants. The Woodlands programs include summer camps and weekend retreats that offer music, creative arts and sports enrichment activities.

The Woodlands also offers year-round aquatics and land-based fitness programs in the Woodlands Wellness and Fitness Center and the region’s only adaptive, par-3 golf course for adults and children with special needs.
