PITTSBURGH, PA — Embrace you inner, yinzer zombie, people.

With Halloween around the corner, it's the perfect to watch spine-tingling, fright-filled films that were shot in and around Pittsburgh. You not only get to scare yourself, but you get the extra thrill of likely recognizing some of the locations where the Internet Movie Data Base says supernatural scenes were shot.

"Night of the Living Dead," (1968)

Plot: Seriously? Come on, this is one of the most famous horror movies in history.

Local filming locations include: Evans City Cemetery, Butler County; Latent Image basement, Carson Street, South Side; Ash Road farmhouse, Evans City (now demolished); Franklin Road, Cranberry.

"The Majorettes," (1987)

Plot: High school majorettes are methodically killed by a mysterious masked figure, something that happens so often you wonder why any girl would risk her life to be one.

Filming locations include: Cornell High School, Coraopolis; Pittsburgh; O'Hara.

Innocent Blood (1992)

Plot: Violent hijinx erupt when sexy vampire Marie turns mobster Sallie "The Shark" Macelli into one of those bloodsucking creatures.

Filming locations include: In front of Three Rivers Stadium (now demolished), East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Poli's restaurant, Squirrel Hill (now demolished) and the West End Overlook.

"Dawn of the Dead," 1978.

Plot: A group of people take refuge from zombies in a shopping mall in the most terrifying satire of retail consumerism ever chronicled in a movie.

Filming locations include: Monroeville Mall, now home of the Living Dead Museum; Harold Brown Memorial Field, Monroeville; WPGH-TV studios.

"Silence of the Lambs," 1992

"Scream Park," 2012

Plot: An amusement park owner plots to commit gruesome murders in the park to attract publicity and sell tickets. If the logic behind that plan seems a bit dubious to you, trust Patch - you're not alone.

"Creepshow," 1982

Plot: A five-tale anthology written by Stephen King, based on the classic E.C. horror comics of the 1950s.

Filming locations include: Willow Hedge Drive, Monroeville; Beacon Street, Squirrel Hill; Squaw Run Road, Fox Chapel.

"Stigmata," 1999

Plot: A young woman is afflicted by stigmata, a priest is sent to investigate her case, his faith is tested and (spoiler alert) the whole bloody mess could have serious ramifications for the Catholic Church.

"The Dark Half," 1993

Plot: A writer's fictional alter ego wants to take over his life, which apparently is a bit more serious than your mother-in-law interfering in your matters.

Filming locations include: Pittsburgh; Washington & Jefferson College, Washington.

"Day of the Dead," 1985

Plot: Another of director George A. Romero's zombie movies that often is overlooked because it was not filmed down the mall n'at.
