2 Former Pittsburgh Steelers Die On The Same Day

Two ex-Steelers, one a Super Bowl winner, have passed away.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Former Steelers Paul Martha and Marv Kellum have both died. Martha, who played for the University of Pittsburgh and later was a professional sports executive, was 80. Kellum was 70.

Both passed away on Saturday.

Martha, a first-round Steelers draft pack in the 1964 draft, played six years for the team before ending his career with the Denver Broncos. Martha played on offense, defense and special teams for the Steelers.

After his career ended, he earned a law degree and served as executive vice president of the Pittsburgh Penguins and then served as general counsel for the San Francisco 49ers.

Kellum played for the Steelers from 1974-76 and was a member of the teams that won Super Bowls IX and X. He was a linebacker.

The deaths of Martha and Kellum came less than a week after former Steelers running back Sideny Thornton died at 68.

In December, Steelers Hall-of Fame running back Franco Harris died. He was 72.
