🌱 $30 Million In PPG Paints Arena Upgrades + Missing Woman Found Dead

Here are the top stories today in Pittsburgh:

1) PPG Paints Arena will soon receive $30 million worth of improvements. Upgrades to the Pittsburgh Penguin's home are set to include a considerably larger scoreboard, two new ice-level bunker suites and a VIP event-level club. Following the conclusion of the Pen's current season, construction will begin and is estimated be completed by the start of the 2023-24 NHL season. "We are committed to maintaining PPG Paints Arena as a world-class destination not only for Penguins hockey, but for concerts and marquee events," Penguins president of business operations Kevin Acklin said.

2) Police and medics responded to a burglary incident in Shadyside on Tuesday night after the perpetrator got stuck inside. "An intoxicated male broke a window to an ice cream shop in the 230 block of S. Highland Avenue and crawled into the basement just before 11:30 p.m." According to police reports, he ripped out water lines and pipes before getting stuck next to a water tank, the information officer said.

3) A lucky winner received a prize of $200,000 after buying a Cash 5 ticket in Allegheny County. The ticket was sold at the BP Stop N Go along Brown Avenue in Turtle Creek. A $500 bonus will be awarded to the store for selling the winning ticket. In addition to the winning numbers of 6-8-10-19-29, more than 11,800 other Cash 5 with Quick Cash tickets also won prizes in the drawing.

4) The Robinson Township woman who was first reported missing in December has been found dead in Bellevue. The body of Sherri Keefer, 60, was discovered in the 4400 block of Ohio River Boulevard, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. At this time, cause of death is not known. "Pittsburgh police Special Victims Unit detectives asked for the public's help to find Keefer a week after she was last seen walking the 3600 block of California Avenue on the city's North Side on Dec. 1."

5) A violent vehicle crash that took place around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of West Seventh Avenue on Thursday morning has left one woman dead, and another person injured. Lisa Taylor, 52, of West Homestead, was reported dead. The other person involved in the accident was taken to the hospital, and their condition is unknown. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
