PITTSBURGH, PA — Nearly 100,000 Allegheny County voters have applied for mail-in or absentee ballots for the May 16 primary, the county elections division said Thursday.
When can they expect to see those ballots in their mailboxes?
The elections division plans to start sending them at the end of next week and the beginning of the following week. That timetable was firmed up Tuesday when three candidate challenges appealed to Commonwealth Court were decided, freeing the elections division to finalize, print and begin sending the ballots.

On April 17 and 18th, the county will conduct logic and accuracy tests to ensure that the printed ballots can be scanned correctly and that the results are reporting correctly. Once that
testing is done, the file with the data for voters who have been approved for a mail-in or absentee ballot will be sent to the printer to create the ballot packets.
As of Wednesday, 93,484 voters have requested a mail-in or absentee ballot. Of those, 78,923 are Democratic voters and 14,549 are Republican voters.
