Allegheny County Coronavirus: Another Death, Dozens Of New Cases

Here are the latest coronavirus case statistics for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Another person in Allegheny County has died from the coronavirus, and 48 new cases were reported on Friday, the county health department announced Saturday.

The county death toll now stands at 19. There are now 836 confirmed coronavirus cases as of 11 a.m. Saturday. That's up from 788 on Friday and 759 on Thursday.

One hundred and thirty people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 124 on Friday and 117 on Thursday.

With 202 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 139 in Beaver County, 123 in Butler County and 66 in Washington County, that brings the total number of coronavirus cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 1,366 as of Saturday. That's up from 1,283 on Friday and 1,242 on Thursday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been40 coronavirus deaths thus far in the five-county region: Nineteen in Allegheny County, 13 in Beaver County, three in Butler County and five in Westmoreland County. That's up from 34 on Friday and 28 on Thursday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the fourth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Montgomery, Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

All Pennsylvania counties remain under a stay-at-home order through at least April 30. Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered schools closed through the remainder of the academic year, and all non-life-sustaining businesses are closed indefinitely.
