Allegheny County Coronavirus Death Toll Increases

Here are the latest coronvirus case statistics for Allegheny county and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Two people died from coronavirus Sunday in Allegheny County, the county health department announced. The county coronavirus death toll now stands at 21.

The number of coronavirus cases in the county stood at 876 as of 11 a.m Monday. That's up from 857 on Sunday and 836 cases on Saturday.

One hundred and thirty four people people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 130 on Saturday and Sunday.

With 218 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 143 in Beaver County, 128 in Butler County and 66 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 1,445 as of Monday. That's up from 1,412 on Sunday and 1,366 on Saturday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 43 coronavirus deaths thus far in the five-county region: Twenty-one in Allegheny County, 13 in Beaver County, six in Westmoreland County and three in Butler County. That's up from 41 on Sunday and 40 on Saturday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.

All Pennsylvania counties remain under a stay-at-home order through at least April 30. Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered schools closed through the remainder of the academic year, and all non-life-sustaining businesses are closed indefinitely.
