Allegheny County Coronavirus Cases Increasing Rapidly

The number of cases in the county has nearly doubled since Monday.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Allegheny County's confirmed coronavirus cases have increased to 88 as of 11 a.m. Wednesday, the county health department announced. That's up from 58 confirmed cases on Tuesday and 48 on Monday.

Thirteen people are hospitalized with the coronavirus in the county.

With 11 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, nine in Washington County, six in Butler County and three in Beaver County, that brings the total number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Pennsylvania to 117 as of Wednesday morning. That's up from 79 as of Tuesday morning and 63 as of Monday morning.

There have been two coronavirus deaths in southwestern Pennsylvania, both in Allegheny County.

According to Pennsylvania Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the fourth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Montgomery, Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

  • 0-4: 1
  • 5-12: 1
  • 13-18: 2
  • 19-24: 15
  • 25-49: 30
  • 50-64: 25
  • 65 and older: 14

Residents of Allegheny County and six eastern Pennsylvania counties remain under a
two stay-at-home order issued Monday by Gov. Tom Wolf.
