Allegheny County Coronavirus Death Toll Rises

Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Coronavirus now has claimed the lives of 117 people in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Thursday. That's up from 111 on Wednesday and 109 on Tuesday.

The number of coronavirus cases climbed to 1,439 up from 1,394 on Wednesday and 1,375 on Tuesday.

Two hundred and fifty-four people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 247 on Wednesday and 244 on Tuesday.

With 471 confirmed cases in Beaver County, 409 in Westmoreland County, 185 in Butler County and 121 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county
southwestern Pennsylvania region to 2,625. That's up from 2,569 on Wednesday and 2,536 on Tuesday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 230 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: One hundred and seventeen in Allegheny County, 76 in Beaver County, 29 in Westmoreland County, six in Butler County and two in Washington County. That's up from 219 on Wednesday and 211 on Tuesday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.
