Allegheny County Coronavirus Deaths, Cases Increase Again
Here are the latest coronavirus case statistics for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Coronavirus now has claimed the lives of 79 people in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Monday. That's up from 73 on Sunday.
The number of confirmed or probable coronavirus cases in the county was 1,224 as of 11 a.m. Monday. That's up from 1,211 on Sunday and 1,198 on Saturday.
Two hundred and thirteen people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, the same number as Sunday and up from 211 on Saturday.

With 374 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 366 in Beaver County, 170 in Butler County and 101 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 2,235. That's up from 2.197 on Sunday and 2,116 on Saturday.
According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 153 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: Seventy-nine in Allegheny County, 46 in Beaver County, 19 in Westmoreland County, six in Butler County and two in Washington County. That's up from 146 on Sunday and 144 on Saturday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.
Gov. Tom Wolf has extended the stay-at-home order for all Pennsylvania counties until May 8, and has said the state will begin gradually reopening in May. Schools will remain closed through the end of the academic year.
