Allegheny County Reports Additional Coronavirus Deaths

Here are the latest coronavirus case statistics for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Coronavirus has now claimed the lives of 99 people in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Friday. That's up from 94 on Thursday and 86 on Wednesday.

The number of coronavirus cases in the county climbed to 1,319, up from 1,289 on Thursday and 1,273 on Wednesday.

Two hundred and thirty five people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak. That's one person less than the county reported on Thursday; the county attributed the revision to a data error.

With 405 confirmed cases in Beaver County, 391 in Westmoreland County, 178 in Butler County and 115 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county
southwestern Pennsylvania region to 2,408. That's up from 2,355 on Thursday and 2,327 on Wednesday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 197 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: Ninety-nine in Allegheny County, 65 in Beaver County, 25 in Westmoreland County, six in Butler County and two in Washington County. That's up from 192 on Thursday and 173 on Wednesday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.

Gov. Tom Wolf has extended the stay-at-home order for all Pennsylvania counties until May 8, and has said the state will begin gradually reopening this month. Schools will remain closed through the end of the academic year.
