Trapped Coyote Rescued In Pittsburgh (patch.com) — Pittsburgh Animal Care and Control officers spent hours rescuing a coyote that became trapped between two walls along Atwood Street in Oakland, then safely relocated it to a wooded area outside the city. Officials are using the unusual incident to remind Pittsburgh residents that coyotes live in city neighborhoods and parks, and to share tips on how to safely respond and who to call if an animal appears distressed.
   

2. Point Park University Buys Prominent Downtown Pittsburgh Building (patch.com) — Point Park University has purchased the long-vacant former CVS building at Smithfield Street and Forbes Avenue, a key Downtown Pittsburgh intersection next to the Pittsburgh Playhouse. Working with Mayor Corey O'Connor's administration and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the university plans to redevelop the 1956 structure as part of broader efforts to keep Downtown vibrant and modernize Smithfield Street.
   

3. Sen. Fetterman Makes Surprise Video Appearance At GOP Convention (patch.com) — Pennsylvanians are watching an unusual political alliance as Sen. John Fetterman appeared by video at a GOP convention to praise Republican Sen. Dave McCormick, even while insisting he remains a loyal Democrat. The move, and a critical Wall Street Journal report, sparked backlash from fellow Democrats, including U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio of Fox Chapel near Pittsburgh, who suggested he may challenge Fetterman when the seat is up in 2028.
   

4. Mom of 2 month old speaks out after being exposed to measles (wtae.com) — A local mother says she and her 2‑month‑old were exposed to measles during a late‑August visit to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and is now questioning the hospital's precautions and communication. She describes being told to return for antibody treatment, then sitting in public areas while under potential exposure, and urges UPMC to improve transparency and infection‑control procedures for vulnerable patients.
   

5. Taniyah Price Went From Weighing 400 Pounds To Making Her Pro Boxing Debut (boxingnews24.com) — Pittsburgh native Taniyah Price has transformed her life, dropping more than 130 pounds after years of severe health struggles and depression, and is now preparing for her first professional boxing match. Inspired by a high‑profile bout she saw online, she turned training into a lifeline, rebuilding her health and confidence and emerging as a compelling new fighter on an upcoming card.
