Kennywood's Phantom Fall Fest Recieves National Recognition (patch.com) β Pittsburgh-area thrill seekers can take pride in Kennywood's Phantom Fall Fest, which has just been ranked the nation's 4th best theme park Halloween event by USA Today's 10BEST. The West Mifflin park is rolling out daytime trick-or-treating, a new fall food tasting experience, and nighttime haunted houses and scare zones through November 1, offering a major seasonal attraction for local families and horror fans.

2. Entire Pittsburgh-Area School District On Lockdown (patch.com) β Families in the Butler Area School District, north of Pittsburgh, were notified that all schools entered a perimeter lockdown after Butler County 911 reported a threat. Officials have not released details about the nature of the threat, but emphasized that the lockdown was ordered out of caution while authorities investigate.

Pittsburgh Restaurant Named One Of The Best New Eateries In U.S. (patch.com) β Food lovers in Pittsburgh have a new point of pride as Palm Palm in East Liberty has been named the 24th best new restaurant in America by Yelp. The stylish spot, which opened in 2025, draws praise for its playful, seasonal menu featuring dishes like grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings and Korean fried chicken.

Pittsburgh Restaurant Chain Marks Notable Anniversary (patch.com) β Pittsburgh diners can help celebrate Walnut Grill's 25th anniversary, with its locations in Robinson, Wexford and Washington offering weekly prize giveaways and a nostalgic Y2K-themed menu all October. The Pittsburgh-based Walnut Grill Holdings also highlights its broader local footprint, including Shady Grove, Rival Sports Bar and Pizzaiolo Primo restaurants across the Greater Pittsburgh area.

Pittsburgh police investigate racist flyers found in Regent Square (post-gazette.com) β Pittsburgh police are investigating about two dozen racist flyers left on properties in Regent Square, and are asking anyone with information to contact them. State civil rights officials condemned the flyers as racially intimidating and urged residents to reject hate, while also noting the community is already grieving a recent fatal stabbing involving a UPMC Children's Hospital physician.
