PITTSBURGH, PA — Get out your winter parka and prepare to turn on the fireplace. The coldest air of the winter thus far is headed for Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory as of 4 p.m. on Friday that will be in effect until 1 a.m. on Sunday. Expect sustained winds of 25 mph to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and power outages may result, the weather service warns.

After that, prepare for very cold temperatures. The weather service warns that frigid temperatures are on the way.

Sunday will be breezy with a chance of snow, with the high temperature reaching only 24 degrees. The low overnight will be 14.

On Martin Luther King Day on Monday, there is a chance of snow. Again, the high temperature will only be 24.

Then it gets colder.

On Tuesday, the high will be near 22 but the low on Tuesday night will drop to 7. On Wednesday, the expected high is only 18.
