Bid Farewell To Another Longtime Pittsburgh Restaurant
The popular eatery is shutting down after a nearly two-decade run.
PITTSBURGH, PA — After nearly two decades, Double Wide Grill on East Carson Street on the South Side is closing on Oct. 1.
The restaurant announced the impending closure on social media.
Spork Pit, which operated a successful barbecue eatery in Garfield before recently closing, is taking over the space immediately. Smokers already have been installed and new vegan and vegetarian options will be available.

From Oct. 9-31, a Halloween themed pop-up bar, the Cannibal Clown Cafe, will open in the restaurant.
After Halloween, the space will be completely renovated and will reopen in late spring as Spork Island Trading Company.

"Spork Island is excited to offer the best cocktails, barbecue, and smoked meat birria tacos to the South Side and Pittsburgh communities," the post stated.
