Biden's Pittsburgh Visit: Prepare For Traffic Disruptions

President Joe Biden will visit Pittsburgh on Friday. Here are the areas most likely to experience traffic headaches when he arrives.

PITTSBURGH, PA — President Joe Biden's visit to Pittsburgh will trigger traffic restrictions and disruptions.

A specific time for Biden's arrival has not been disclosed, but he will be visiting the Mill 19 research and development hub in Hazelwood. He is expected to discuss infrastructure and manufacturing.

Rolling closures are probable along Route 885 in West Mifflin from the Allegheny County Airport, where Air Force One will land and then Mifflin Road into the city's Hays neighborhood and then to Hazelwood. The closures will be reversed as the president departs the city.

“Drivers should prepare for rolling traffic delays and detours, as well as restricted parking along 2nd Avenue between the Glenwood Bridge and Hazelwood Avenue for the planned event," Pittsburgh Police Commander Eric Holmes said. "It is advisable to pack a measure of patience and prepare ahead with an alternative route in mind to minimize travel hurdles.”

Residents who live on or visit the following streets in Hazelwood will also experience parking and travel interruptions:

No Parking signs will be posted 24 hours in advance of the visit and restrictions will be in place Friday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.
