Eclectic Pittsburgh Bar, Performance Venue To Open West Coast Location (patch.com) — Pittsburgh's Bottlerocket Social Hall, the retro Allentown bar and performance venue, is expanding with a new location in Seattle while keeping its original spot here open. The West Coast outpost will mirror the Pittsburgh venue's mix of comedy, concerts, movie nights, and community events, highlighting how a homegrown entertainment staple is gaining national reach without leaving local fans behind.
   

2. Pittsburgh Restaurant Ordered To Close (patch.com) — Oakland diners should know that Hunan Bar/Chuan Xiang Hui on Atwood Street has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department after inspectors found extensive rodent droppings, insect activity, and unsafe food temperatures. The restaurant must address sanitation, pest control, food safety training, and cleaning procedures before it can reopen to Pittsburgh customers.
   

3. PRT to receive $82.8M grant to jump-start T train replacement project (post-gazette.com) — Pittsburgh Regional Transit just secured an $82.8 million federal grant to begin replacing the light rail trains that serve Downtown Pittsburgh and the South Hills, kicking off a $777 million modernization effort. Riders can expect longer, more efficient cars, station and maintenance facility upgrades, and a future study on routes like the Silver Line, Allentown service, and Penn Station access.
   

4. 2 people test positive for measles after visit to UPMC Children's Hospital (post-gazette.com subscription) — If you visited UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh on Aug. 27, especially key third-floor areas or the main lobby between 1 and 5 p.m., health officials say you may have been exposed to measles. While the two new cases involve non-residents, Allegheny County and state health departments are tracking contacts amid a wider Pennsylvania outbreak and offering guidance by phone.
   

5. Pittsburgh, Clairton schools move to remote learning amid extreme heat (wtae.com) — Families in Pittsburgh should prepare for several days of remote learning, as Pittsburgh Public Schools and neighboring Clairton schools shift classes online September 1–3 due to dangerous heat inside older buildings. District leaders and parents discuss safety concerns, the lack of air conditioning in many schools, and a multi-year plan for costly cooling upgrades that some parents feel is moving too slowly.
