Consumer Alert Issued For Oakland Pizzeria

Inspectors found mice droppings, other violations.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Original Milano’s Pizza on Fifth Avenue in Oakland for numerous health code violations, including the presence of rodent droppings.

Numerous mouse droppings were observed under the upstairs hand sink, according to the inspection report. Some droppings also were observed along walls under counters near the kitchen hand sink and along walls in basement.

Inspectors also saw an employee packaging pre-made salads into to-go containers with bare hands;unsafe cold and hot holding temperatures of food; a lack of soap at the hand-washing sink; malfunctioning refrigeration; food contact surfaces not properly cleaned and sanitized, and toxics not labeled and improperly stored.

Inspectors cited the restaurant for 18 violations, five of them high-risk.
