Coronanavirus Outbreak Slowing, One More Allegheny Co. Death

Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Coronavirus now has claimed the lives of 120 people in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Friday. That's up from 119 on Friday and 117 on Thursday.

The number of coronavirus cases climbed to 1,486, up from 1,455 on Friday and 1,439 on Thursday.

Two hundred and seventy-three people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 259 on Friday and 254 on Thursday.

With 479 confirmed cases in Beaver County, 413 in Westmoreland County, 192 in Butler County and 121 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county
southwestern Pennsylvania region to 2,691. That's up from 2,648 on Friday and 2,625 on Thursday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 238 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: One hundred and twenty in Allegheny County, 78 in Beaver County, 30 in Westmoreland County, six in Butler County and four in Washington County. That's up from 236 on Friday and 230 on Thursday.

With the outbreak slowing throughout the region, Gov. Tom Wolf has announced that all of southwestern Pennsylvania can begin reopening on May 15, with the exception of Beaver County.
