Coronavirus: Allegheny County Death Toll Jumps Again

Here are the latest coronavirus case statistics for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Coronavirus has now claimed the lives 0f 43 people in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Friday. That's up from 38 on Thursday.

The number of coronavirus cases in Allegheny County stood at 947 as of 11 a.m. Friday. That's up from 925 on Thursday and 904 on Wednesday.

One hundred and seventy-six people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 162 on Thursday and 146 on Wednesday.

With 240 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 168 in Beaver County, 154 in Butler County and 73 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 1,582 as of Friday. That's up from 1,541 on Thursday and 1,504 on Wednesday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 76 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: Forty-three in Allegheny County, 14 in Beaver County, 13 in Westmoreland County, five in Butler County and one in Washington County. That's up from 69 on Thursday and 52 on Wednesday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.

All Pennsylvania counties remain under a stay-at-home order through at least April 30. Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered schools closed through the remainder of the academic year, and all non-life-sustaining businesses are closed indefinitely.
