PITTSBURGH, PA —Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh MayorBill Peduto on Tuesday reminded residents who have not yet been counted that there are only a few days left to complete the 2020 Census.

“Census data is one of the most important things that residents can do to make sure that their communities, their families, their friends and their neighbors have access to the services and programs that they need,” Fitzgerald said. “Every person in every municipality is important and we need each of you to make sure you’re counted. Particularly now, it’s imperative that you let the federal government know you’re here. Be Counted.”

The self-response rate of Allegheny County residents is 71.6 percent, which is higher than the state’s rate of 69 percentand the federal rate of 66.4 percent. Even though the self-response rates have slightly surpassed the 71.3 percent level that was reached in the 2010 census, officials still want to exceed that number and remain concerned with ensuring that hard to count communities are included.

"We need Pittsburghers to come together, as they always do, and push our census participation even higher. The stakes are especially great this year and we need to work together to earn the federal resources we deserve," Peduto said.
