Here are the top stories in Pittsburgh today:

1) Candidates Dr. Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman are in a deadlock for the PA U.S. Senate seat. But according to recent polls, the battle is far from over. The latest Muhlenberg University-Morning Call of Allentown poll, has Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz tied at 47 percent, with 3 percent favoring neither and 2 percent unsure of which candidate will get their vote. Both are running to succeed Republican Pat Toomey, who is retiring. The poll also revealed that likely voters in Pennsylvania prefer Republicans over Democrats in their congressional races by a 48 percent to 43 percent margin. The general election will be held on Nov. 8th.

2) Allegheny County police confirm that a man was shot at Hyatt Place on Campbells Run Road in Robinson Township early this morning. Those passing by observed at least a half-dozen police vehicles and an ambulance upon arriving at the scene. Police said the victim suffered an injury to the leg around 6:30 a.m. His condition was not immediately known.

3) Local police are searching for suspects who took part in a park-and-ride carjacking in Allegheny County. The carjacking happened around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Park and Ride lot on Center Street in Wilkinsburg. Pittsburgh Regional Transit officials said a passenger was getting off the bus when two suspects forcefully demanded their car keys and stole the vehicle. There were no reports of any injuries.

4) Pittsburgh City Council unanimously approved an award totaling nearly $1.2 million in grants to community groups that provide services for those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. The resolution is the latest piece of an effort by the city to address homelessness that began over the summer. Auberle, a McKeesport-based human services agency, will receive the largest portion of the funds. The group will be awarded nearly $340,000 for its homeless prevention services and its rapid rehousing program. The group assists with back rent and partners with landlords to connect people with stable, affordable housing. In addition, eight other groups will receive money from the bill. Pittsburgh Mercy will get $200,000 to support the downtown Bethlehem Haven women's shelter; and $125,000 each will go toward supporting the East End Cooperative Ministry and Womanspace East shelters.

5) Two former Presidents will be heading to western Pennsylvania on Saturday, Nov. 5, to campaign for U.S. Senate candidates John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Barack Obama will join Fetterman, though details of the time and location have not yet been released. "I think it's an honor to have President Obama coming to support," Fetterman said. Saturday is the same day Republican candidate for Senate Dr. Mehmet Oz will campaign in western Pennsylvania with former President Donald Trump and Republican candidate for governor, Doug Mastriano. "It points just to how important it is and just the stakes in the race here, absolutely. It's a very critical race nationally," Fetterman said.
