Hello again, friends! It's me, Rachel Tasker, your host of the Pittsburgh Daily. Let's get this day started off right, with a quick review of everything you need to know about what's going on around town. In this issue, you'll find...

Let's go!
Pleasant with plenty of sun. High: 65 Low: 40.
Here are the top stories in Pittsburgh today:
1) Yesterday's election has left Pennsylvania with new elected government leaders. Many voters reported that they felt the importance of this midterm election. Voters pointed to a number of issues, including abortion and women's rights as well as the economy and inflation. Results as of this morning report that Lt. Gov. John Fetterman locked in the coveted U.S. Senator's seat. Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania's attorney general who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, secured the Governor's seat. Election results for the U.S. House of Representatives are still being counted.
2) Veterans and active duty military personnel can eat free at Sheetz this Veterans Day and leave with a squeaky-clean vehicle. The gas station and convenience store offers this promotion annually to show its appreciation for veterans and active duty military personnel. On Nov. 11, the Altoona-based convenience store chain invites all veterans and active duty military personnel to enjoy a free half ham-and-cheese or meatball sub and a regular size fountain drink at any of Sheetz's 660-plus store locations. Sheetz will also provide a free car wash to veterans and active duty military. This offer only applies to the $9 wash option and is only available at Sheetz stores that have a car wash. Military identification or proof of service must be presented to qualify.
3) Plans have been set for the 103rd annual Pittsburgh Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11th. The downtown parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Avenue and 10th Street, near the Greyhound bus station, and will proceed down Liberty to Commonwealth Place. A reviewing stand will be set up at Liberty and Penn avenues. At 11 a.m., the parade will stop for a moment of silence will be held. Highlights of the parade include an all-service color guard and military flyovers coordinated by the 911th Airlift Wing.
4) The Millvale Market, opening in January of 2023, will be first new grocery store located within the borough in more than 2 decades. It will be the quintessential corner market at the intersection of Grant and North avenues. The market is co-owned by Jen Saffron, who also owns the Sprezzatura Café in the borough, and Derek Dumont. The town has been without a fresh food market for 20-25 years, Millvale Mayor Brian Spoales told a crowd at the unveiling of the store across the street from the former Plute's market. "Our seniors have no place to go," he said. The grocery store's large glassed garage-style doors open into an industrially chic and clean space that will soon be lined with shelves and coolers filled with locally grown vegetables, other produce, dairy products, dry goods, frozen meats and prepared food."This is a neighborhood grocery," Saffron said, "meant to lift public health, nutrition and dignity of this community. We know the community wants this."

5) Pittsburgh is home to an assortment of venues and hundreds of beautiful weddings each year—but one local couple decided that a wedding centered around their love of video games and Pokemon just made sense. Kristen Klessig and Drew Adam tied the knot on April 30th at Heinz Memorial Chapel in Oakland, the same place Drew's parents got married, before heading to Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for the reception. While hosting their wedding at the venue was not directly a nod to Pokémon's world of fictional animals, Drew decided to set up a water-type Pokémon-themed scavenger hunt for the guests. Drew designed a Pokémon Save the Date and the couple sent out Pokémon-themed invitations, but the wedding incorporated the game series more subtly to keep a classy look, Drew says. The wedding party wore red, black and white, the signature color of the Poké Ball, a device that captures the namesake fictional creatures. The groomsmen played the game as they got dressed in the colors, complete with Pokémon cufflinks and socks. Guests were seated at tables with Pokémon "types," elemental properties like water and fire associated with Pokémon, and each guest was assigned a Pokémon based on their personality. The guestbook was a large Poké Ball that guests could drop smaller signed Poké Balls into.
