Ex-Steeler Apologizes To Fans For Leaving Team

A former Steeler regrets his ill-fated decision to move on from the franchise.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Former Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell issued a mea culpa over the weekend, issuing a social media video to fans apologizing for his departure from the team.

The Steelers drafted Bell in 2013 and he quickly became one of the NFL's best backs. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times in five seasons with the team.

But in 2018, Bell decided to sit out the entire season instead of signing the franchise label with the Steelers. In 2019, Bell signed with the New York Jets. He never was the same player after that.

“I never apologized to the fans for sitting out, or leaving the Steelers,” Bell said in the social media post.

“I never apologized. So I want to say I apologize for leaving the best damn fans there is in this damn world. I shouldn’t have left. I apologize, I should never have left. I apologize. That’s my fault. That’s on me.”
