Express Closing 100 Stores
The fashion apparel store becomes the latest mall retailer to dramatically downsize.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Fashion retailer Express announced Wednesday it plans to shutter 91 stores over the next two years, becoming the latest bricks-and-mortar business to attempt to stop financial bleeding caused largely by online sales.
Express said it will close 91 stores in addition to nine recently shuttered - 31 by the end of the month, another 35 by the end of January 2021 and the rest by 2022. According to a public filing in November, Express had 411 mall-based stores and 215 outlet stores.
