Here are the top stories in Pittsburgh today:

1) Clearing up confusion related to the permanency of mail-in election ballots is on Allegheny County's 'to-do' list. The county reports that some voters wrongly believe that after applying once, they will automatically be sent mail-in ballots for each election cycle, every year. However, voters must either complete an application at least once per year if they want to continue to vote by mail or take the necessary steps to be placed on a permanent status list to receive applications for mail-in ballots each year. More information can be found on the resource page of Allegheny County Elections Division website.

2) February marks the celebration of Black History Month, and Pittsburgh is honoring August Wilson, an acclaimed playwright who was born in the city's Hill District, as tribute. "A monthlong display in the City-County Building's grand lobby will feature photographs, playbills, handwritten notes, play materials and other memorabilia and activities, city officials said." The public is encouraged to join in the celebration at the opening reception for the exhibit on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the City-County Building. Attendees can expect entertainment, refreshments and remarks from Mayor Ed Gainey and others involved in the exhibition, as well as people who knew Wilson.

3) Charges have been filed against the woman responsible for a fatal hit-and-run incident that took place earlier this month. "Erin Petroski, 39, of Ross, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed and careless driving." The victim of the incident was 32-year-old Elizabeth Griser. She was struck by Petroski on Babcock Boulevard on Jan. 13, and later died from her injuries.

4) Event management spanning from large-scale film productions to neighborhood block parties will fall under the responsibility of a newly created government office. Known as the Office of Film and Event Management, the office will operate as part of the city's Department of Public Safety. Duties of the office will include receiving and vetting applications for both small- and large-scale events and film productions in the city, as well as work in tandem with film and event permit applicants to ensure they meet industry standards, safety regulations and city policies. Film and event permit applications are now located on the Office of Film and Event Management's new city webpage.

5) Country music star Luke Bryan is making his way to the steel city. The singer's "Country on Tour" show begins in June, and is set to feature special guests Chayce Beckham, Tyler Braden, Ashley Cooke, Jackson Dean, Jon Langston, Conner Smith, Alana Springsteen and Hailey Whitters. He'll perform at The Pavilion at Star Lake on Aug. 19 along with Beckham, Cooke, Smith and DJ Rock as his supporting acts. "Tickets go on sale on Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. Nut House members get first access to purchase tickets on Tuesday. Jan. 31 at 8 or 10 a.m. local time."
