Future Of Former Station Square Shops Space Uncertain
The Freight House Shops are gone, but what happens to most of the space now is unclear.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The former Freight House Shops space in Station Square is now a vast, empty building interior and questions abound about what ultimately will go there. Plans still call for four new restaurants on the Grand Concourse side of the building, but UPMC appears to wavering on occupying more than 36,000 square feet of space.
CBRE is marketing what now is being called the Freight House Offices and the space UPMC intended to take on the Smithfield Street Bridge side of the building.
An informational brochure notes the space has a single-story, open floor plan with exposed brick and beam, as well as vaulted ceilings and abundant natural light. CBRE is advising potential tenants that the space has flexible lease terms, below-market rental rates and an above-market tenant improvement allowance.
