Here are the top stories today in Pittsburgh:

1) A gun found in a local school was reported by a fifth-grade student, preventing any harm from being caused. Tyson Coulverson, who attends Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter, found a mysterious pistol left in the school bathroom on Feb. 17. The gun had reportedly been left behind by a contracted security guard. "School leaders say Tyson immediately reported it to a teacher, who took appropriate action." Tyson was recently recognized at his school's Black History Month event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on Tuesday, receiving the "Step Up" award and community excellence award.

2) A new eatery has opened in Downtown Pittsburgh. Ritual House, located inside the former Union Standard establishment, is said to entice all of the senses while creating a welcoming atmosphere for quality dining. Guests can expect a full service bar, a secret garden bursting with wisteria, comfy chairs hanging from the ceiling, and a large, colorful painting displayed on a back wall. "Through the open kitchen design, guests will see several Pittsburgh-inspired menu items being prepared." Executive Chef Jeff Maag will lead the kitchen team for the 170-seat capacity restaurant.

3) Vehicles maneuvering the Fort Pitt Tunnel may have experienced lane restrictions last night that are set to last into the early morning today. "PennDOT announced that the Fort Pitt Tunnel, part of Interstate 376, would see single-lane restrictions in each direction." The cause of lane closure is due to minor repairs. Drivers can expect the restrictions to last from 10 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Both Hozier and Jason Mraz are set to be headliners for the weekend festival on May 27-28. "The gathering of music and artist will happen at Allegheny County's Hartwood Acres Park and tickets for the two-day music festival go on sale at noon on Friday, March 3, at WonderWorksfest.com and Seetickets." 5) Theaters, galleries, restaurants and shops that populate Pittsburgh's Downtown cultural district will receive $175 million in funding to help them rebound from losses associated with the pandemic. Financial support will be provided by Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's 'Building on the Dream' campaign. "The goal of the plan is to improve Cultural District buildings and sculptures in order to create a welcoming area to live, work and visit." Thus far, the Trust has already started work on three projects: 937 Liberty Ave., the Greer Cabaret Theater and the Benedum Center marquees... and senior vice president of development and real estate with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust says these items are just the beginning of new developments that locals can expect to see happening in the area in the next few years.
