Health Department Cites Carlow University Dining Hall

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny County Health Department has cited Carlow University after evidence of rodents and insects were found during a recent inspection of the Tiernan Dining Hall.
Chew marks were found in a Hershey chocolate bar along with fresh mouse droppings on the shelf below in a dining room storage area. Fresh droppings also were found on the bottom shelf of a utensil storage rack and the floor beneath the rack, and old droppings were present along the wall beneath a countertop leading to the entrance of a dishwasher.
Also found were rodent holes in the student dining area.

Inspectors also observed numerous fruit flies around a sink where vegetables are washed.
