PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Masala House Indian Bistro on Washington Avenue in Bridgeville for numerous health code violations.

A inspection this week found food being stored on the floor in the walk-in cooler and on the floor in the dry storage room. Waste water was present on both floors.

Home Depot buckets and old detergent buckets were being used to store food.

The inspector found there was no way to wash, rinse and sanitize dishes and silverware because of a sink and dish machine backing up. Additionally, there is no hot water at a three-compartment sink because the hot water handle is stripped.

In the basement prep area, a hand sink, 3-bowl sink, and dish machine are backing up onto the floor. Water pooling on the floor. The inspector noted that this is a reoccurring problem as old waste water found was pooling behind the wall and in the food storage room.
