PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has shut down the Panther Pitt Sports Bar on Meyran Avenue in Oakland for various health code violations.

A recent inspection found sewage piping damaged in a second-floor utility room. A rough hole was cut in the side of the piping joint and another pipe pushed into the hole. The rough hole was not sealed and there was a strong odor of sewer gas coming from it.

Hand sinks for the first-, second- and third-floor bars were inaccessible and not stocked with soap and paper towels. There was no way for bar staff to wash their hands.

The rear bar on the third floor was found to have no plumbing fixtures and was set up with an ice bin and liquor. Again, there was no way for bartenders to wash their hands.

Inspectors also found beer kegs stored directly beneath sewage pipes in a basement walk-in cooler.
