Health Department Shuts Down Pittsburgh Bruegger's Bagels

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of the Bruegger's Bagels on Forbes Avenue in Oakland because of numerous health code violations.

Inspectors on Friday found old mouse droppings below the front counter sink and mop sink. Small flies were present under the front counter, dry storage, and mop sink areas.

Also, black residue was found on shelving storing bagels in the prep area. Inspectors also found f cream cheese, sliced tomatoes and other food items stored at unsafely warm temperatures and noted the restaurant has been cited for similar violations multiple times over the past four years.

Additionally, a raw sewage backup was found in the basement, with inspectors noting that the sewage appears to be a chronic condition.

Inspectors also found encrusted food debris in the dining area carpeting, which has been ordered to be replaced.
