Health Department Shuts Down Popular Pittsburgh-Area Restaurant
The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of a prominent Pittsburgh eatery.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Me Lyng in West Homestead for multiple health violations.
The basement drain is backing up in room where there is food storage. An inspector recently observed 100 percent blockage in the sewer line when fixtures were turned on. This is a chronic and recurring event, according to the inspection report.

Waste water was found pooling in dry storage room from a previously backup, and black buildup was observed on the floor of an unused basement restroom from a previous backup.

Water also was seen discharging through an exterior wall into parking lot next door when water was turned on.
The basement conditions were described as deplorable. There are layers of sewage, broken equipment and other non-essentials making the area unsuitable for any food storage or preparation.
It is unclear when, or if, the restaurant will reopen.
